About Elegant & Driven

Everything I Learned Eventually Found a Home Here

Krupa Patel, Founder and Editor in Chief of Elegant & Driven
Chapter One · The Making

I did not wake up one morning and decide to become a lifestyle publisher. In many ways, I think I had been building Elegant & Driven for most of my adult life without realizing it.

I spent more than twenty years working in fashion, first as a designer and eventually across product development, production, sourcing, and creative leadership. Fashion taught me how to see. I learned about proportion, color, texture, materials, construction, quality, and the small details that can completely change how something feels.

It also gave me the opportunity to see the world. I traveled extensively for business, particularly through China and Hong Kong, and spent time in cities including London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles. Personal travel took me even further. Everywhere I went, I paid attention. I noticed architecture, interiors, food, craftsmanship, history, how people dressed, how they entertained, how they organized their homes, and how culture influenced everyday life.

Without knowing it at the time, I was collecting what I now think of as cultural capital.

I have always been intensely curious. If a subject interested me, I wanted to understand it. I studied Feng Shui because I became fascinated by the relationship between our surroundings and the way a space makes us feel. That knowledge became part of my own approach to creating a home, where natural materials, light, plants, color, placement, and energy all have a purpose.

My interest in health followed the same pattern. I studied nutrition and became a certified health coach. Eventually, I began writing and publishing books centered around protein, fiber, practical nutrition, and the way we actually eat in everyday life. I have now published more than ten books, and writing them taught me something else about myself. I loved researching a subject, connecting the information, simplifying it, and turning what I had learned into something another person could actually use.

And yet, even after publishing the books, I always felt that something was missing.

Chapter Two · The Missing Piece

I had knowledge about design and fashion. I had decades of experience building products. I had studied health and nutrition. I understood sourcing and business. I loved interiors, Feng Shui, books, travel, culture, personal development, money, technology, entrepreneurship, and the endless process of learning something new.

None of it belonged in one place.

For years, I also had a dream of creating my own publication. I knew I wanted to build something of my own, but I did not know exactly when or how all the pieces would come together. Life was busy, I had a career, I was raising my son, and financial independence still mattered enormously in deciding what I could realistically do with my time.

Then another chapter of my education began, investing.

I became deeply interested in the stock market and spent years learning, investing, making decisions, making mistakes, understanding businesses, and building my own financial knowledge. Eventually, investing gave me something I had been working toward for a very long time, financial freedom.

That freedom gave me the ability to make a decision that had once seemed difficult. I could finally give my time to the thing I had always wanted to build.

And suddenly, so much of my life made sense.

Elegant & Driven became the place where all those years of experience could finally live together.

I could write about why an antique gold frame changes the feeling of a room, and why the energy of a home matters. I could talk about protein and fiber, strength and health, because I had studied them and lived them. I could write about fashion with the perspective of someone who spent decades designing and developing products. I could talk about business, investing, technology and entrepreneurship because they had become part of my own journey.

I could write about a city I had visited, a culture that fascinated me, a book that changed the way I thought, a lesson I learned raising my son, a beautiful object worth owning, or an idea that made me reconsider how I was living.

For the first time, I did not have to choose which part of my experience belonged.

It all belonged.

Chapter Three · The Philosophy

That realization became fundamental to Elegant & Driven because I do not believe our lives exist in categories. The home we create affects how we feel. Our health affects what we are capable of doing. Financial knowledge creates choices. Travel gives us perspective. Books give us access to lives and ideas we may never encounter ourselves. Technology changes how we work. Culture teaches us how much exists beyond our own experience.

Even my approach to interiors is connected to this philosophy. I believe a home should be collected slowly and intentionally. Natural wood, beautiful textiles, books, art, plants, objects discovered while traveling, pieces with history, and things that simply make you happy all tell a story about the person who lives there.

I think the same is true of a life.

We collect experiences. We collect knowledge. We collect skills. We travel, read, work, raise families, change careers, make mistakes, discover new interests, and sometimes become fascinated by subjects that seem completely unrelated to everything else we are doing.

At the time, we may not understand why any of it matters.

Then one day, the dots connect.

That is what Elegant & Driven has become for me.

It is a lifestyle publication, but it is also the culmination of everything I have spent my life learning. It gives me the freedom to explore home, health, style, culture, travel, books, relationships, personal development, business, money, technology, and whatever I become curious about next.

There is also commerce here, and that feels equally natural to me. I spent much of my career developing products, so I have always looked at products through the lens of materials, construction, usefulness, design and value. When we curate something for Elegant & Driven, I want there to be a reason it belongs. I want to understand what it adds to a home or a life, not simply whether it happens to be popular.

The older I get, the more I understand the value of everything we accumulate that cannot be measured on a résumé. The books we read, conversations we remember, places we visit, skills we teach ourselves, mistakes we make, cultures we experience, subjects we study simply because we are curious, and knowledge we collect over decades all become part of how we see the world.

That is also why Elegant & Driven is not about presenting a perfect life. I am still learning. I am still changing my mind. I am still discovering subjects I know almost nothing about and deciding I want to understand them. There will always be another book to read, another place to visit, another business idea to explore, another technology to learn, and another way to look at something I thought I already understood.

I am Krupa Patel, Founder and Editor in Chief of Elegant & Driven. I am a designer by training, an entrepreneur, an author, a certified health coach, a mother, an investor, a lifelong learner, and an endlessly curious person.

For a long time, those identities felt like separate chapters.

Elegant & Driven finally gave them one home.

And after more than twenty years of building a career, traveling, studying, writing, investing, learning and collecting experiences, there is something wonderfully unexpected about where I find myself today.

I feel like I am just getting started.

Welcome to Elegant & Driven.
