Are You Making Money but Can’t Seem to Keep It?

Your Wealth Corner Might Be the Reason

“Making money is an art, Keeping it is a discipline, and growing it is wisdom.”

For the longest time, I was making a good living, growing my career, and creating beautiful things. But strangely, no matter how much came in, it felt like something was leaking. I wasn’t overspending. I wasn’t living beyond my means. And yet — the financial energy didn’t stay.

That’s when I started paying attention to Feng Shui and, more specifically, to my Wealth Corner. There’s something quietly powerful about the energy of your home — the way it supports you, reflects you, and sometimes holds you back.

I’ll admit it: I didn’t believe it at first, but I was curious and wanted to give it a try. I had nothing to lose by trying it. And what happened next wasn’t just aesthetic — it was energetic. The more I paid attention to this corner of my home, the more my financial energy settled, expanded, and supported me in tangible, visible ways.

This post is for anyone who’s making money — but feels stuck at a plateau or always starting over. Let’s discuss the Wealth Corner in Feng Shui and how it may be subtly influencing your finances.

Where Is the Wealth Corner in Feng Shui?

In classical Feng Shui, your home is divided into nine energy zones using the Bagua Map (see below image). Your Wealth & Prosperity corner lies in the far back left corner of your home when you’re standing at the front door looking in.

According to the Bagua:

  • Element: Wood
  • Supporting Element: Water
  • Colors: Purple, Green, Gold
  • Season: Late Spring

This area significantly impacts your finances, resources, investments, and ability to retain wealth. Not just income — stability, flow, and growth.

Why Cleanliness Comes First

Before you enhance anything, energy must be free to move.

I’ve seen people buy lucky coins or wealth vases while the space itself remains dusty or overstuffed — and nothing shifts. That’s why I always begin with a deep clean. If you need help with organizing your home first, I strongly suggest applying the Marie Kondo method: anything that doesn’t spark joy needs to go or be improved.

My practice:

  • Declutter and wipe surfaces regularly
  • Avoid stacking “pending” decisions like unopened mail
  • Keep the space easy to maintain, not perfect — simplicity creates flow
  • Leave room for growth — I learned this a little later, but yes, always keep some room for growth

If you do nothing else, cleaning this space consistently can begin shifting how supported you feel by your home.

5 Ways to Strengthen Your Wealth Corner

1. Let Energy Breathe

Before adding anything, remove what’s unnecessary. Ask:

  • Is this corner (room or space) overwhelmed?
  • Are there too many conflicting elements?
  • Does it feel neglected or stagnant?

Clear space invites clear opportunity.

2. Use the Power of Wood and Water

  • Wood symbolizes growth.
  • Water nourishes it.
  • Use healthy plants, wooden frames, bamboo trays
  • Add mirrors, glass vases, or imagery of flowing water

Avoid fire-heavy colors like red here. That can “burn out” wealth energy.

3. Incorporate Wealth Colors Mindfully

Not everything has to be purple or green. Add these shades through:

  • A deep purple velvet cushion
  • A leafy green potted plant
  • Gold décor or frames

Let it reflect your décor style. For me, elegance matters. Abundance should feel authentic, not forced.

4. Light It Up

A dark corner won’t support financial growth.

  • Open curtains
  • Use soft lamps or wall sconces
  • Add mirrors to reflect light

I’ve noticed that even symbolic “shadow corners” in a home can affect the clarity of mind — and finances.

5. Infuse Meaning

Wealth is personal. So should be this space. Add:

  • A quote that reminds you of your values
  • A photo of a moment when you felt financially at peace
  • A symbol of generosity or legacy

This makes the energy real, not superstitious.

What If the Wealth Corner Falls in a Bedroom or Garage?

Here’s where things get personal — and practical. Most homes aren’t perfectly laid out. The Wealth Corner is often located in one of the following tricky areas:

1. A Child’s Bedroom or Guest Room

This can make wealth energy passive or feel like it’s “not yours.”

Tip: If this is your layout, make sure the room:

  • Is clean and uncluttered
  • Has no broken or unused furniture
  • Is used intentionally, not as overflow storage

You can subtly reclaim the energy by adding:

  • A small framed quote about abundance
  • A green or gold accent (a cushion, curtain, or small plant)

2. A Garage or Utility Room

This can suppress financial energy entirely. Garages are often messy, dusty, or emotionally detached spaces.

Remedies:

  • Declutter and keep this space clean
  • Add light, even if artificial — motion lights or string lighting
  • Hang a symbol of wealth (a wooden frame, gold décor, or healthy plant in a secure place)

3. A Closet or Empty Space

When your Wealth Corner falls into a closet or thin slice of architecture, don’t ignore it — empower it.

  • Keep the closet organized
  • Place a meaningful symbol on the inner wall (a gold-framed affirmation or mirror)
  • Avoid storing trash bags or broken items there

How I Style My Wealth Corner

In my old home, luckily, this room was my dining room. I added a large, beautiful vintage mirror with a gold frame that reflected the dining table — symbolically doubling the bling and abundance. This was game-changing and convinced me that it would work, as I noticed increased financial clarity and unexpected income that same season.

In my current space, the wealth area is located in one of the bedrooms, so I have designed it with beautiful dark wood furniture, photo frames, and books. I’ve repeated this practice with consistent results, and now it’s one tip I share with all my friends and family.

Suggestions that work in almost all rooms:

  • A plant in a gold planter (wood + metal)
  • A mirror with a gold frame (water + metal — great energy flow)
  • One or two books or affirmations that inspire prosperity
  • A small marble or crystal bowl or vase to represent elegance and clarity

I never over-decorate. The idea is not to create a shrine to wealth — it’s to build a space that reflects stability, flow, and your worth.

A Note on Belief

When I started practicing Feng Shui years ago, it was primarily out of curiosity and a desire to learn ancient wisdom. But what I’ve come to understand is that belief isn’t required. Awareness is. When we treat our home with care — when we make small shifts with love and attention — our life responds in kind.

I’ve seen financial wins, new opportunities, personal growth, and internal stability from these practices. I’ve also noticed when I neglect them, energy (and money) feels off-balance.

You don’t need to turn your home into a textbook-perfect example of Feng Shui. You need to work with it — respectfully, intentionally, and simply.

Curated Décor Picks for the Wealth Corner

  • Gold-framed mirror – Reflects light and expands abundance
  • Healthy Money Plant or any Plant – Wood energy for financial growth
  • Brushed Brass Table Lamp – Soft lighting and metal elements combined
  • Simple Wooden Side Table or Stand – Grounding, growth-oriented surface

Final Reflection

Your home holds the story of your life — and your finances. If you’ve been making money but struggling to keep it, take 20 minutes this week and visit your Wealth Corner. Clean it. Style it with intention. Add something that reflects your values and sense of possibility.

It’s not about luck — it’s about clarity. And sometimes, the most minor shifts unlock the most profound transformations.
