7g Fiber Chocolate Avocado Mousse
High-Fiber Dessert That isn’t made with toxic sugar and flour
Fiber per serving: ~7 g
Protein per serving: ~4 g
Calories per serving: ~350 kcal
Significant Nutrients
- Avocado: ~10 g fiber per 100 g (medium) + heart-healthy monounsaturated fats for satiety and brain health
- Raw Cacao Powder: ~4 g fiber per 2 tbsp + rich in antioxidants that support mood and reduce inflammation
- Maple Syrup: Natural sweetener with trace minerals like manganese and zinc
Fun Fact:
Unlike traditional mousse, this version gets its creaminess from avocado — making it both fiber-rich and dairy-light. I used to trick my son Krish into eating avocados when he was little with this recipe. It’s that delicious. Kids also love it.
Ingredients (Makes 2 servings)
- 1 medium ripe avocado (~200 g flesh)
- ½ cup (60 ml) whole milk
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 2 tbsp raw cacao powder (unsweetened, dark)
- Pinch of sea salt (optional)
- Optional garnish: berries, mint leaves, or a dusting of cacao
Instructions
- Prep the avocado: Halve, pit, and scoop flesh into a blender.
- Add everything else: Whole milk, maple syrup, cacao powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Blend until smooth: 1–2 minutes, scraping sides as needed. Add more maple syrup if desired.
- Chill: Transfer to a serving glass, cover, and leave in the fridge for about 30 minutes to thicken — or eat immediately if you like creamy.
- Serve: Garnish with berries or cacao powder and enjoy.
Optional Notes
- For dairy-free: Use almond, coconut, or oat milk instead of whole milk.
- For extra protein: Blend in ½ scoop of unflavored protein powder.
Why I Love This
This mousse is rich, creamy, and intensely chocolatey — but also nourishing, with 7 g of fiber in just one serving. It’s the perfect example of how dessert can align with your health goals.
